The headlights on our cadillac are really dual the light barley comes through. What product do you recomend I use to clean them up? How can I clean the inside of my headlight?
I have a 1997 mecury sable and need to get inside of my headlights to clean it. how can i do this?How can I clean the inside of my headlight?you can't. headlights are sealed. since you mentioned age and make, I am guessing your headlights have %26quot;hazed%26quot; over. become a chalky like look.
there are a couple fixes for this.
1. Novus makes a product that works pretty well in cleaning them up. They are a glass/plastic company and you can find their product in auto body supply stores.
2. put a high speed buffer on them with compound and then wax and actually buff them back up.
3. wet sand the lens in levels from 800-1500 grit sand paper and then high speed buff them back up to shine after wards.
4. wet sand as above, but instead of buffing them, actually clear coat them. can be done with a spray can but better be good otherwise a paint spray gun is recommended.
5. buy new headlights

How do I clear up the headlight lenses on my car that have crystalized?
By crystalizing I mean when they get all yellowish and cloudy or foggy. Is there a way I can remove this from the lenses to clear them up like new? I tried coming at it from above and below but there are obstructions everywhere. Usually the bulb is held into place by a mount with a ring that turns to lock it in. It's just a big FREAKIN' PAIN to try and turn that plastic ring, with trying to fit your hands and fingers into the small space. If it's the driver side headlamp, sometimes you've got to take out battery so you've got room to work. It's not complicated, just a hassle.
Once you've got the ring turned, you'll see how it unlocks it. It doesn't unscrew like a pop bottle cap. Then you pull out the bulb. Think you can also remove the wiring from the part first before trying to move the locking ring which helps to not damage the wires. Once out, you merely replace the bulb like changing batteries, and then reassemble the whole thing again. It's much easier to pay the $20 to let someone else do it.

There is not enough room behind the device to just unplug and plug in the new lamp. I tried to remove the assembly by taking out the two screws at the top that hold it in place. Push it in under the headlight assembly and between the front facia. This will help keep you from scractching your chrome Bezelette (bumper insert). Its a one piece headlight assembly and the bulb locks into the back. Most of the time that haze you see is on the outside of the lens. You can go to a local auto parts store or Walmart and try some PlastX cleaner. It worked pretty well on the wife's headlights and dont be afraid to use it several times. You can also go to an auto supply store and get various grades of wet/dry sandpaper (start with 480 grit and then go lighter and lighter like, 1200, then 2400) Use the roughest paper first, and plenty of water, then use successively smoother grit until you get to the smoothest paper. You are actually just polishing the lenses so go light with the 480 grit or you will put deep scratches in the plastic lens. Try the PlastX first, as it does a good job and if you use it enough with enough elbow grease you will be surprised at how much it cleans them up. I have a 99 Tahoe with the composite headlights. I went to change the burnt bulb, but ran into trouble. One of the hex pins holding the fixture is stripped, but still seated. I tried cranking on it with Vise Grips and a pry-bar, only scratched my arms and my fender. You will see the wires running to the light. there is a locking ring that holds the bulb on the light. Turn the locking ring counter clock wise.Depending on which light it is you may have to remove the battery to gain space to get your hand on the ring and the light socket. Once the ring is off the light socket with the bulb should be able to be pullet straight out. Then you'll just lift the little locking clip on the plug and pull the bulb and plug apart.. When you install the new bulb it is important that you don't touch the glass bulb. If you want to ensure a long bulb life you can take some rubbing alcohol and wipe the glass part of the bulb clean of anything that could be on it. Yes even a new bulb could use this little treatment to make the bulb life longer. Then install the bulb, the lock ring and then the plug. It is really way simpler than it sounds! Just make sure you remember which way the lock ring was facing when it came off. And you don't try to put it on backwards. The owners manual says something about removing a clip that holds the turn signal assembly to the headlight assembly and then the headlight assembly will come out , I don't see any clip. For either the Headlamps or Front Park and Turn Signal Lamps
1. To remove the six plastic fasteners from the shield use a screwdriver to pull up the center of the fastener. Be careful not to break the fasteners that hold the shield in place.
2. Using a 13 mm socket, remove the two bolts from the headlamp. Pull the headlamp assembly up and toward the front of the vehicle to access the bulb assembly.
When replacing the driver檚 side headlamp, twist the bulb assembly one-eighth turn counterclockwise and remove it from the headlamp assembly. When replacing the passenger檚 side headlamp, twist the bulb assembly one-eighth turn clockwise and remove it from the headlamp assembly.
3. Disconnect the bulb base from the socket by lifting the plastic locking tab.
4. Remove the black collar by turning it counterclockwise.
5. Remove the bulb by pulling the bulb straight out.
6. Snap a new bulb into the socket.
7. Reinstall the bulb assembly by reversing Steps 1 through 3, making sure the lower leg of the headlamp bracket is properly seated into the wedge-shaped retainer.

How can I solve this problem?is the head light switch mounted in the dash or on the turn signal? chrysler has had alot of troubles with dash mounted headlight switches. the tend to overheat and melt the connector where it plugs into the switch. ussually they are eassy to take apat to check. if that looks ok and you suspect a wire short the best way to check it is to turn th lights on with a good fuse and move and pull n the wires that go to the lights. ussually if there is a short it will blow the fuse when you get to the area of the wiring that is bad. if the car has ever been in an accident start with the wiring on that side. oh and I have never seen a loose ground or a salt trail? cause a fuse to blow. good luck.

I have an 84 Honda Saber V65 VF1100s it was built with a fairing/noscone on the front, however Honda denys they ever manufactured a Saber with a faring. But the headligh has a foglike appearance to it my dad when restoring the bike removed some but how do i get the rest off it looks as if the (Foglike appearance) is inside the headlight assembly, but when i use my nail or a hard surface to remove it, it comes off. How do i get this to come off with out scratching the headlight cover its self. Would it be possible to add a headlight to an '86 Honda CR80? Does it produce enough wattage?
Not sure how it works on these 2 strokes. I have a few 4 strokes with stators that support a headlight, but I'm interested in throwing on an extra 12v light I pulled off my XR. I assume the same is true for an '82 KX125, whatever the answer for the CR is. Would it be possible to add a headlight to an '86 Honda CR80? Does it produce enough wattage?as stated above, you don't have a battery or lighting coil to drive any lights. I guess you could add the necessary stator but the stock set up will not run a light.

WARNING: THE HALOGEN BULB CONTAINS GAS UNDER PRESSURE. THE BULB MAY SHATTER IF THE GLASS ENVELOPE IS SCRATCHED OR IF THE BULB IS DROPPED. HANDLE THE BULB CAREFULLY. GRASP THE BULB ONLY BY ITS BASE. AVOID TOUCHING THE GLASS ENVELOPE.
NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a replacement bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp.

NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a replacement bulb is installed. 1. Remove the headlamp assembly; refer to Headlamp.
2. Rotate the headlamp bulb protective cover counterclockwise and remove.
3. Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector.
4. Rotate the headlamp bulb retainer counterclockwise and remove.
5. Remove the headlamp bulb by pulling it straight out with a gentle up-and-down rocking motion.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. NOTE: Be sure the headlamp assembly is positioned correctly with the alignment pins inserted into the correct holes and onto the ribs of the reinforcement.

to change it: if you still have that intake pipe that curves up by the battery, try going in from the right corner of the battery closes to you. if not then reach in from the left corner of battery closes to you. if you can't fit your hand in there then you have to remove the battery. removing it would make it easier to get to. it also resets your radio and clock in the car. use size 10mm socket(deep socket prefer) or wrench to remove battery clamp. there is two(2) teeth like clip on the harness that needs to be pull back a little to unplug the harness. once u get the harness off then simply turn the bulb one way to loosen it. the bulb can be remove first also. Contact them to see if they can recommend a repair. Otherwise I would check to see if you can find a break in the wiring circuit. If no abrasions are found in the wiring, check to see if the illumination ring is made of LED's. If so its possible the wiring inside the headlight may have a broken wire causing that side not to work. This means you might have to disassemble the light to repair and I would only suggest the manufacturer do so otherwise you could damage the light beyond repair. Many times these are factory sealed and cannot be opened up and reassembled, as you already know.

The reason I ask is that right now, my day time running lights work, my park lights work by switchng them on yet my headlights won't go from day runners to low beam when I use the switch. High beams work no problem.

Nylon clips and or screws hold them in place. Don't mess with the headlight adjusting screws.The whole assembly comes out and the bulbs turn out by twisting them an eighth of a turn. Be careful not to touch the new bulbs with your hands. Dab on a little silicone ignition grease on the contact points before forcing the new bulbs back in the sockets. Use a paper towel to insert them in the sockets. Once this is out, examine the top of the headlight assembly and find two metal clips that slide upwards. Slide them up until the stop. The headlight assembly now pops out. Change the bulb. After a half-hearted attempt at replacing it, I took it to the VW dealer. I think it cost me abt $50.
I thought it a bit on the high side. Until I spoke to my neighbor [has a Honda] . Turns out that it cost him $45 at Honda dealer to replace his headlight bulb too!
Made me realize that VW dealer was charging me a fair price.....creating file remove win32 trojan

First remove the headlight from the car and remove all the lights.
Either blow air into it with an air compressor or let it air out.
-Purchase 600 grit, 1000 grit, and 2000 grit sandpapers.
-If your headlight is very scratched, use 600 grit wet/dry sand paper. Be sure to keep the headlight wet during the entire thing, using the spray bottle. Sand the entire headlight, working on small area at the time. This will take a long time. After completion of this step, the headlight should be VERY foggy and contain no deep scratches or pits.
-Now do the same thing with a 1000 grit sand paper. Once again, work on a small area at a time and keep the headlight wet. Upon completion, the headlight should look a little clearer.
-And now with with 2000 grit sand paper. After you are finished, the headlight should look much clearer than in the previous step. However, the surface will still be rough with visible scratches.
-Use a terry cloth to dry the headlight completely
-Apply a little bit of rubbing compound to a cloth applicator. Use the applicator pad to apply 3M rubbing compound to a small area at a time, using a circular motion. Be very thorough and use a moderate amount of force. This step is very hard and will require you to use alot of time. When you are finished the headlight should look much clearer than before. Minor scratches may still be visible.

I backed into someone and only cracked their turning signal plastic cover the light. Nothing else is damaged. Does the whole light have to be replaced or can the housing be replaced? So it could be something like the carpet or the paint not being an exact match, it might be that the volvo lens colors might need to match. He says do not go to the dealer, you will get charged a lot. He thinks some places might not sell it separate, so you might consider getting the hole housing.

Then the bulb holder comes out and the new bulb is put in. I haven't had the drivers side go out yet (02 Altima) I'm sure they have'nt changed such a brilliant design?????
