How do I change a headlight bulb on a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass?

I am trying to help a friend of mine change his headlight bulb (just the bulb, not the whole assembly). He has a 1997 Olds Cutlass, and we're not sure how to gain access to the bulb. The headlight assembly has metal plates behind it, so we don't have direct access to the bulb. I've never come across a vehicle that doesn't offere easy direct access to the bulb. I'm thinking we're going to have to pull the whole headlight assembly forward in order to get to the bulb, but we're not exactly sure how.

Come to think of it, this also brings up the question: How many automotive novices does it take to change a headlight bulb?

Thanks. How do I change a headlight bulb on a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass? On this car there is a bulkhead behind the headlight assembly which prohibits normal access to the bulbs. You need to remove the assembly from the front to get at the bulbs.

This is actually pretty easy and should be described in your owners manual. If you don't have that just look for two plastic tabs that push down from the top to secure the headlight assembly in place. Pull those up and the whole thing should slide right out. Then just reach for the bulb, give it a little turn and pull it out.How do I change a headlight bulb on a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass?Try going to AutoZone.com...they have online repair manuals for free on their website.
