How do you disconnect a headlight socket that is stuck?

my problem is that one of my car's headlight sockets can not be detached from the prongs of the bulb. (The side release buttons aren't there and the plastic is covered in tape). I've tried to pull it off but It feels like if I pull any harder I'll break the spring retainer inside that holds the bulb in place.

The socket works fine it's just the bulb i'm trying to replace but can't get to it.How do you disconnect a headlight socket that is stuck?Remove the bulb from the housing so you can ser the socket better if you haven't already.

Remove all the tape that is there so you can see everything, the release tabs may be hiding under the tape.

If the push tabs that you squeeze (or lift) to release are not there, then you may end up having to replace the socket along with the bulb. But before that, try prying it apart from the bulb at the bulbs base with a flat head screwdriver to see if it will come loose (if you can get the screwdriver in a spot to pry). If it does come loose, make sure the socket stays on the new bulb when you plug it in.

If you do accidentally touch the bulb, clean it with alcohol and a non-abrasive lint-free cloth. How do you disconnect a headlight socket that is stuck?try pushing down on the bulb and turning it. and if it's headlights ur trying to replace, avoid using ur fingers to replace the new bulbs as it well leave a hot spot on the bulb.
